CVPP Peer Educator Program

Our volunteer Peer Educator program is a fun way to make a difference in spreading awareness about issues like acquaintance rape and learn about how sexual violence contributes to the social system, norms and values we live under today. This program usually consists of between 15-20 UC Davis students and is a year commitment. The program is headed by CVPP's Assistant Coordinator. Once a year students depart for a weekend long team building retreat (ropes course) where we get to know each member of the group and learn how to communicate effectively with each other. Thereafter, we meet once a week to learn more about and discuss issues pertaining to, sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, hate crimes, etc.

The main way that Peer Educators spread awareness about acquaintance rape is through presentations that include a dramatization (of a rape survivor, an acquaintance rape situation, and a monologue that addresses mainstream attitudes about acquaintance rape), a multi-media slide show and an audience discussion (where questions, comments and ideas about acquaintance rape can be discussed).

This is a great way to earn internship experience. CVPP also offers two units to everyone who participates in the program. If you are interested in getting involved in the Peer Educator program please email CVPP at violenceprevention@ucdavis.edu or call us at 752-3299.
