The Campus Violence Prevention Program Peer Educators are a group of undergraduate men and women who work to educate the campus community on the issues of sexual assault, including "date rape", drug-facilitated sexual assault, rape trauma syndrome, and assistance to survivors. Peer Educators commit to one academic year of volunteerism, beginning every Fall quarter. During the year, Peer Educators spend six-hours per week learning about topics of sexual assault and violence, and passing on what they have learned to the campus community through tabling, forums, events, and the performance of "Unspeakable Acts". "Unspeakable Acts" is a series of short vignettes through which Peer Educators demonstrate the ways that poor communication, alcohol, gender roles and misperceptions combine to result in "date rape" situations. Through dialogues and monologues, the experiences of victims and offenders in heterosexual rape situations are brought to life and compared. Also involved in the "Unspeakable Acts" presentation are a multimedia slide show and post-presentation discussion facilitated by Peer Educators. Recruiting for CVPP Peer Educators begins mid-Spring quarter for the following academic year. Up to two (2) Pass/No-Pass units are available for participants.
